Peab builds Bergsåker wye junction

Peab has been commissioned to build a new railroad junction west of Sundsvall. It will be a so-called wye that connects the Ådal and Mitt tracks. The customer is the Swedish Transport Administration and the contract is worth SEK 178 million.

The new railroad will streamline transportation between coastal industry and the port in Sundsvall. The project consists of around 1.7 km of new railroad with switches, bridges over Timmervägen and Selånger River and the redirection of Huli and Sticksjö creeks.

“We are really pleased to be able to participate in the development of an efficient transportation hub that contributes to growth in the Sundsvall region. The new railroad will make it possible to shift goods from roads to railroads, which is a big plus for the environment,” says Jörgen Eriksson, Region Manager Peab.

The project is expected to be completed in the middle of 2021.

The project will be order registered in the third quarter of 2018.
