Peab has been commissioned to rebuild streets and expand water pipelines in Kirseberg in Malmö. The customer is VA Syd and the city of Malmö and the contract is worth SEK 110 million.
The project entails building new wastewater and rainwater pipelines as well as increasing the capacity of the grid so that future development areas can be connected to it. The section of the road will be rebuilt to a certain extent and new bus stops erected to enable Malmö’s new electric express buses to run on it. In addition, pedestrian and bicycle lanes will be rebuilt and trees planted.
“We’re really pleased about this project which entails extensive work in an area that runs all the way through Kirseberg. It will be a modernization both above ground and underground, especially since the new emission-free express buses will run here,” says Göran Wiking, Region Manager at Peab.
The project is a turnkey contract. Construction began in August 2023 and is expected to continue until June 2025.
The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2023.
