Peab has been commissioned to build the new jail in Borås and work on the site has already begun. The customer is Specialfastigheter and the contract is worth SEK 499 million.
The jail is located near the Borås travel center and will be a seven story building with room for 116 prisoners. The jail is expected to be completed in 2026 and about 100 people will work there. The jail will be part of the new judicial center, which will also include a new police station and a new district court.

It means a lot to us to be able to provide our experience and expertise and thus contribute to Specialfastigheter and the Prison and Probation Service's crucial operations. This is a complex project that requires good coordination and collaboration between all the actors involved,” says Liselott Bergkvist, Region Manager Peab.
The project is a turnkey contract. Work on the site has already started and mounting the building's frame is currently underway.
The project was order registered in the second quarter 2024.
