Peab builds crematorium in Västerås

Peab has been commissioned to build a new crematorium at Hovdestalund in Västerås. The customer is the Church of Sweden and the contract is worth SEK 190 million.

Peab has been commissioned to build a new crematorium building at Hovdestalund Cemetery formed to meet current conditions and environmental requirements.

The new building will consist of several interconnecting sections on three floors with attendant visitor functions and staff rooms. The area is located in a protected environment and the building will be behind trees on a slope. While building the new crematorium building a new visitors' meeting place, a visitors’ square, will also be created.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnering. Construction will begin in November 2024and the crematorium is expected to be completed in June 2027.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2024.
