Peab has been commissioned to build the new Vigra School in Giske. The customer is Giske Municipality and the contract is worth NOK 159 million, approximately 152 million Swedish kroner.
The project includes the demolition and clean up of existing school buildings as well as the construction of a new school building on the same site. The new school will be approximately 3,270 m2. The contract also includes outdoor areas, parking lots and access roads.
"We’re particularly happy to have a local contractor with local craftsmen win this contract. This means we can feel safe as the developer in every phase of the project. Construction work will take place while the school is still running and safety will of course be our highest priority," says Robert Valderhaug, Head of Construction and Expansion in Giske Municipality.
The students will use parts of the existing building and temporary barracks while the construction work is underway.
"We feel a great responsibility and appreciate being entrusted as the general contractor for this fantastic school project. It’s inspiring for us to build something that benefits our own local community. We look forward to starting and collaborating with Giske Municipality," says Ola Blindheim, District Manager Peab in Norway.
The project is a turnkey contract. Demolition work will start in the spring of 2025 and occupancy of the new school is scheduled for February 2027.
The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2025.
