Peab has been commissioned to build a new swimming pool facility in Götene. The customer is Götene Municipality and the contract is worth SEK 250 million.
The new swimming pool facility will be built in Västerby in Götene, an area with a sports field, school and housing. The facility will have a 25-meter pool with six lanes, a multi-purpose pool with a height-adjustable bottom, a relaxation area and an accessible play area with several different pools.
"We're both happy and proud that Peab can participate in the development of Götene and that we’re the contractor in this collaborative project which focuses on long-term sustainable solutions. We hope the new swimming pool facility will be an important place for exercise and relaxation as well as socializing for all ages," says Stellan Haraldsson, Region Manager Peab.
The new swimming pool facility replaces the 53-year-old swimming pool building that has been dismantled to reuse bricks from its outer walls in the new building. On top of that marble benches and art from its walls will be placed in the new swimming pool facility.
"We’re very pleased to be able to build the new swimming pool facility in Götene. It will be a great place for the area and its inhabitants and improve the quality of life for everyone who lives here. This project has been made possible thanks to the fantastic collaboration with Peab and all the other committed parties who want to see positive changes in our area," says Åsa Eklund, Sector Manager Culture and Leisure at Götene Municipality.
This construction contract was preceded by a so-called phase 1 contract whereby Peab is contracted to work with the customer to map out an optimized product with the right quality and to manage risks and uncertainties. The project is now entering phase 2, which is the implementation phase.
The project is a turnkey contract in partnering. Work will start immediately and the new swimming pool facility is expected to be completed at the turn of the year 2027/2028.
The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2025.
